My dad's driving or lack thereof. He hates driving. He gets freaked out any time he doesn't know where he's going, any time there are crazy drivers around him, or just sometimes for no reason. It is really unsafe, frankly. My mother had hand surgery and can't drive right now. I have an appointment tomorrow that he has to drive me to. And he's already freaking out about it because it is somewhere we've never been before. I'm firmly expecting him to be yelling at me for directions and just generally being terrified and making me scared too.

Can you take over the driving for the duration, or is he too possessive of his car?

I would never, ever drive with him in the car. He freaks out just as much in the passenger seat. And I'm a bit of a nervous driver and would be distracted by his panic. It would not be good.

The other possibility that comes to mind is for you to simply borrow the car and leave him out of it.

Sorry. Didn't notice this yesterday. I had my eyes dilated, which was why it wasn't safe for me to drive. Thankfully we made it through with only a tiny bit of panic from him.
