Exactly.

A few years ago a family friend's 8 year old son had a crush on a boy he went to school with and there were a bunch of supposedly "open minded liberal" relatives on Facebook having a meltdown about how the parents had "planted the idea in his head" because he was "too young" and it was so digusting how they were "sexualizing" him. But his 6 year old sister having a crush on a boy in her class was perfectly fine and TOTALLY NOT AT ALL THE SAME THING.

I always got pissed when people would ask my then-five or six or seven year old daughter 'do you have a boyfriend'?
