Mpreg and a/b/o - only for Thorki fic
parent/child incest - only for Booker/Elizabeth
cannibalism, torture porn, gore - only for Hannigram
wingkink, tentacles - only for Sephiroth smut
vampires - only for Legacy of Kain slash

probably more but I'm drawing a blank

The vampire one kind of surprised me since there is loads of vampire media out there.

Is there a specific aspect of of Legacy of Kain that makes it work for you?

And I've consumed loads of vampire media! And thought most of it was pretty shit.

I think just that while LoK has a lot of the standard tropes present (including a certain amount of existential angst and woe), it plays with vampirism in such a way as to make the characters and the affliction actually interesting.

They're all human enough to be relatable- you understand their motives and feelings- but absolutely inhuman and monstrous in enough ways that it's not a trite rehash. They don't spend all their time brooding about humans and what it means to be human and the horror of eating humans and why they aren't human anymore. They're monsters. That's what they are, and that's how they behave, and by and large they don't give it much thought beyond that unless the situation calls for it.

So there's the emotional aspect that's handled well. (This is especially important since most vampires in fiction are either hilariously angsty or nonsensically cruel, or are just plain badly written.)

But it's also the physical stuff. They aren't glittering pretty boys, or even the very statuesque perfect vampires of Anne Rice. They're big, gross, ugly creatures who get more and more monstrous as the centuries pass and they evolve into more effective killers. It's refreshing in a genre where vampires are often "scary" b/c they look "inhuman" where inhuman just means really attractive. LoK's vampires are scary b/c meeting one in real life would be fucking terrifying. Even Umah and the other stripperific vamps in Vorador's cabal are creepy looking.
