Frey apparently had autoimmune conditions as well. I don't know much about ulcerative colotis treatments (beyond that the condition is a royal BITCH), but I do know the treatments for rheumatoid arthritis, as I have it. Most of them include immune suppressants, often multiple -- if it's bad enough, a biologic (which is an immune suppressant) + methotrexate (which is a cancer drug and also an immune suppressant), because they work better together. I have thankfully seen enough improvement I've been able to go off MTX. (Yay!)

This means that something like pneumonia is a LOT more likely to be fatal than for your average person.

Ahhhh, okay.

Wow. Yeah. All of that combined, that would certainly explain it, then. That sucks.

I'm sorry you've got to deal with the arthritis part of that, but that is good that you're doing well enough to where you won't need that suppressant. I hope all goes as well as can be with that for you.
