Snape joined an organization that preyed on people like him who were looking for acceptance and someone to tell them that their feelings of frustration with everything were valid. This is literally how real-world cults get members.

James, yeah, put his life on the line. He had a fucking hero complex. Of course he would. Meanwhile, the smart, non-complex thing to do would be to move his family somewhere not easily found. Which he didn't do. He wanted to eat his cake and have it, too.

lol with the snapefen infestation, I swear to god, good to know you guys will never change. Blaming James now for fighting on the side AGAINST genocide, yeah how horrible of him, he should have kept his head down to stay safe with his family. That's how things get solved. Whereas Snape. poor baby, couldn't help getting involved with the genocide-commiters, he had no way of knowing it was wrong to want to kill an entire group of people for what they were born as. Makes sense. Four for you.

And you don't get much more "not easily found" than a Fidelius Charm, for chrissakes, it's not his fault Wormtail turned out to be a traitor.
