11: Well, to each his own, I suppose, but I have to say that I completely disagree with you. I spoiled myself for AJ almost immediately after I played T&T and given some of the fan reactions to the Japanese version, I was completely, for lack of a better word, bummed. The whole thing seemed totally hopeless to me. I was angry about what the developers did to Phoenix and a lot of my fandom friends and acquaintances felt the same way.

The DR actually made me excited for AJ. Not because of the shipping, but because a lot of the Muns were so excited about new possibilities that it rubbed off on me. It was nice to see that everyone wasn't so down on the game.

And yeah, I actually don't ship any slash pairings from that game (aside from maybe some Phoenix/Kristoph sometime in the 7 year gap), but I totally don't get what's so offensive about Phoenix/Apollo. Apollo is 22 years old, Phoenix is 33. While that's a fairly large age difference, that hardly makes Phoenix a pedophile -- Apollo is of age. I don't ship it, but I don't think it's wrong to ship it.

16: I wasn't wild about Apollo at all, and I liked hobo!Phoenix. Apollo is a lot like Phoenix, but without the sense of humour or personality. He's a bit dull, really, and has no distinguishing characteristics other than the fact that he's slightly more confident than Phoenix in court. hobo!Phoenix interests me, because he is so different from the Phoenix that we've all come to know.

And I think I'm pretty far off from being shallow and retarded...

...although I have been known to squeal on occasion.

I think that's likely the problem, and I totally agree with you. The kid does look like he's 12, and I really don't like it. I've disliked his character art from the beginning. When I first played the PW games, I had little experience with anime and manga-style art and wasn't wild about it, mainly because of that trope of people looking younger than they actually are. I dug PW's art because the characters looked their age.

Yes, an anti-phail fortress. I can see myself being a bit reclusive once it's completed, but I may invite the odd guest -- if they're made of enough win ;)

Well, I think the reason why people might think Phoenix as a pedophile when paired off with Apollo is because Apollo acts (and looks) young, compared to Phoenix. I have to keep reminding myself that he's older than he really is. Plus, there's the whole 30+ = grandpa mentality that stems from Kingdom Hearts (seriously, Cid is 35, he's not a grandpa! ;O;) and just younger people in general.

*scratches head* Er, got a bit carried away, but that's kind of my feelings on Apollo/Phoenix. Granted, Phoenix kind of creeped me out in the new game, so it's probably influenced by that.

Yeah, I think you're probably right. I said above that I think Apollo's art is totally misleading, and I'm really not fond of it because of that.

I just wish people would pay attention to the actual ages of the characters rather than focusing on the art. And in general, it'd be nice if people weren't making such a fuss over new ships. Shipping weirdness is one of the things about fandom that I've never understood.

Totally agreed--I didn't like the character designs for the 4th game as much as the rest, because they didn't seem as varied as the first three. Everyone in this game was ridiculously pretty, with few exceptions, and looked about 3-4 years younger than they really were. ~~No way is Lamirior fourty-something. Can I look that good when I'm fourty?!~~

Yeah, shipping arguments are pretty silly, really. Especially in something like Ace Attorney, when half of the characters don't take themselves seriously anyway.

No doubt, I really hate it when fandom is totally SRS BZNZ. I don't mind serious discussions, but when people get all upset over things it totally turns me off.

And yes, I know, it's like she was in a cryogenic chamber for a few years or something ;)

I believe this is the second time I've hailed "WORDY MCWORD" at you. Agreed on all points, although I've never really been to the DR and I was excited about Apollo Justice for my own reasons.

I thought Apollo looked 12 from the very beginning. It did bother me at first as I was used to Phoenix and Miles actually looking like they were in their 20s, but I've since gotten over it. It does happen in real life, after all. I'm almost 25 and up until recently people assumed I was still in high school.

But now I'm just playing devil's advocate. :)

Anyway, Apollo's endearing sprites have won me over... Who can resist the "thinking" one!?

Nothing wrong with that opinion. To each their own. ^_^ I think he's adorable, but Phoenix will always be #1 in my book. ♥ Still haven't figured out what I think of him in AJ, though. I'm only in the midst of the second case.
