Inspired by 8

Are there any songs you can't separate from a certain fandom or pairing or character?

"Always Gold" by Radical Face is a Thor & Loki song for me.

I have some more, but they won't come to mind right now.

Spent Gladiator 2 by the Mountain Goats is about (low chaos) Corvo Attano/Dishonored general in my head

Barricade by Stars is Enjolras/Grantaire from Les Mis (I have a few songs I can't separate from Les Mis but this is the biggest one)

This might be because I first heard this song not long after I watched Breaking Bad, but For Blue Skies by Strays Don't Sleep really makes me think about Walt and Skyler right at the end of the series.

Speaking of Breaking Bad and songs, Damien Rice's Rootless Tree reminds me of Walt and Jesse. Though it can be applied to other relationships in that show too, especially Walt and Skyler.

This AMV from the stone age made me associate the song Black, Black Heart with Vegeta. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2MPwopXopc

This AMV has made me forever associate Rolling in the Deep with Charles/Erik. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHGQvM7LEGc

I haven't read/watched Naruto in 5ever, but I s2g Hand of Sorrow by Within Temptation is about Gaara.

The child without a name grew up to be the hand
To watch you, to shield you or kill on demand
The choice he'd made, he could not comprehend
His blood a grim secret, they had to command

I mean... Come on!

Then AMV's have forever made "The War was in Color" a Steve Rogers song (it's kind of weird calling them AMV's when it's a live action film, but IDK what else to call them, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Similarly, Håll Om Mig is now forever a Princess Tutu song. (Link has spoilers)

See, for some reason, this only works for me when I put it on the context of Rue/Kraehe.

Steven Universe, Steven/Connie, "Cool Kids" by Echosmith. It's honestly affected how I see the ship--Connie has always been a good influence on Steven in canon, but both characters have issues that I could see the other ending up in a position to enable.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Luna & Celestia, "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. It's the only way I can tolerate the song and not remember its connections with a certain vampire romance.

Hard Candy, Li'l Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs. In the end, both main characters are singing it to each other.

And just for the hell of it, Sankarea, Infected Girls by Electric Six.

(Side note: can anyone think of a show that goes with Needle & Stitch?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EOAyBqmMWlY It seems like it's begging to attach to something. From the things I've heard about Hannibal, they might go together, but I can't think of anything I've personally watched that quite fits.)

This song I random encountered on a folk music sampler-- Paper Rock Scissors by Jana Pochop-- speaks to so many characters and themes in Carnivàle I almost wonder if it was inspired by the show. I think the song dates to 2007-8, so it's possible.

How many other songs mention circuses, mysterious charismatic preachers, other religious themes, and Dust Bowl storms?

Most of Desiderii Marginis' output I strongly associate with Fallout 3 due to me dumping a bunch of DM songs into the music folders.

Case in point:

Town music
Underground/interior music
Overworld music

I've been wanting to make a Jessica Jones fanmix simply so I can use 'The Jessica Numbers' by The New Pornographers in it:

Come Here Boy by Imogen Heap is a Hotch/Reid (Criminal Minds) song for me, to the point I did a song vid for it.

At the same time I was reading the first two Raven Cycle books I was also obsessed with Walk The Moon's first album, so those are firmly and forever connected in my head now ("Shiver Shiver" is obviously a Blue/Gansey song.)

I can't hear "Brother" by Matt Colby or "Howl" by Florence and the Machine without thinking of the Winchester brothers

I guess this is going to be a bit of an impromptu vid recs post, because almost all of the songs which are indelibly associated with a particular show, for me, are songs with fanvids.

Hell of A Place by Autovaughn will always be an X-Files song to me, because of this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYm4QlgGQK4

Matches To Paper Dolls by Dessa will always be an X-Files song to me, because of this vid: https://astarte.dreamwidth.org/80620.html

No One Would Riot For Less by Bright Eyes always be an X-Files song to me, because of this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY6LEQ8MrYY

Marchin On by One Republic will always be a Harry Potter song to me, because of this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWKEXvtsWRE

Bloodbuzz Ohio by The National will always be a Breaking Bad song to me, because of this vid: http://f1renze.dreamwidth.org/120327.html

Sometime Around Midnight by Airborne Toxic Event will always be a BSG song to me, because of this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbXUEHqCiaI

Farther Along by Josh Garrels will always be a Supernatural song to me, because of this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7bAABTej_4

That's All by Genesis does not have a fanvid, but will forever be a Johnlock song for me.

Running around saying out all night
Taking it all instead of taking one bite
Living with you's just putting me through it
All of the time

I first heard Demons by Imagine Dragons all the way through in a fanvid for Russ/Milt (Battle Creek) and it seemed to fit really well, but then it would probably fit a lot of fandom relationships.

"In My Remains" by Linkin Park is linked in my mind to Boromir - specifically Boromir in "The Raven's Blade" fanfic.

"Waiting For The End" and "Iridescent" (also LP) belong to my OC Oraania see my icon).

"Burn It Down" by LP belongs to Elenaria Surana, the version of my main Silmaril who lived in Thedas and became the Hero of Ferelden. I think she also owns "Wake The White Wolf" by Miracle of Sound, which is a fan-song for The Watcher 3. She definitely has "Same Disease" by Red, while for some reason I think is also about Shangraile, a First Age Easterling turned dimensional traveler before he came home to Arda (and will soon become a bondmate to Elenaria because she got poisoned with a love potion).

Meanwhile "Fires At Midnight" by Blackmore Night belongs to Elennárë, the version in "Stoneverse", a timeline where she didn't go to Thedas, and in the Third Age found her way to the surface through Mount Doom and found a young Boromir while traveling westwards. This is mainly because Valandhir had one of her characters, Anvari (a cousin to Kíli in this timeline), quote the song in a scene where Elennárë was talking to her sister via a long-distance telepathic bond (said sister was the one with Eärendil).

Also, despite not playing "Witch Hunt" in DA:O, "Masquerade" by LP is attached to Morrigan circa Witch Hunt in my head.
