I'm kind of puzzled by this comment. I read many genres including YA. Literary fiction isn't the only genre aimed at adults, so it's not like audiences are limited to only those two choices?

I'm not sure where I said they were the only two. There are plenty of other genres, but they're just that... Genre fiction. 25-45 year olds don't get books written about their own life issues unless they're detectives, romantic heroines, or space marines or something.
