Book Recs?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-24 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
All I've been reading is fanfic for the past year it seems. Seriously it's been forever since I read an actual book. And while I don't judge like the secret maker today, I'd just personally like to get back into reading other things than fanfic. But I'm having a hard time finding something that catches my interest. So could you all please rec me a book? I prefer fantasy, some sci-fi, but I'll read anything really.

So. Last good book you read? Or a favorite you re-read? Anything.

The enchantress of Florence by Salman rushdie. I recently re-read it for a term paper and it's still very entertaining and dense, and even educating, while not being pretentious.

Philip K. Dick! If you're gonna read sci-fi, you might as well read one of the masters.

I'm actually reading the rodger rabbit books. they're really good. even the sequels which I'd been lead to believe were trash (although the sequels are totally different in style and tone to the original)

Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist. A family move into a house to find that it's haunted by creatures from Celtic mythology. A really creepy story.

I read Kindred by Octavia Butler last year and thought it was quite good.

Theodore Sturgeon is basically THE scifi short story writer. So many awesome idea, many of them far ahead of his time.

I love the Enchanted Forest Chronicles for light funny fantasy.
