Re: EU Migrant Crisis Rant

what worries me the most that there won't be enough resources to properly integrate the amount of people that are arriving.

In the UK, the news is so saturated with the ways in which austerity is creating a social divide unseen since the Victorian era. The NHS is being sold off. People are either dying because they've had their benefits cut - either from the stress of returning to work when unfit or because they've taken their own lives. These are people who have paid taxes all their lives, who are now being abandoned by an uncaring government of millionaires.

Then, we have the same government handing over public money in aid to the people sat in Calais who doggedly refuse to seek asylum in a safe, first world country.

Right.

When a behind-the-door genocide of our own poor, vulnerable and disabled people is going on, I think it's easy to see why some British people are so angry at resouces being used for this. This is beyond civic duty. This is like paying squatters to live on your doorstep while your children starve.

People should be angry at the fucking Tories for cutting the social safety nets, not at the immigrants for needing money.

Jesus shit what a load of horse manure. Fuck off if that's your concern.

Who said anything about migrants in general? I'm talking about the people forcing their families to live in the fucking Jungle because they think the UK is paved with fucking gold or something.

REALITY CHECK. It's not. Our government is screwing us all over.

The people the government have taken in as quota? Different story entirely. We should be helping the crisis. Just not people who are living in shit conditions for no logical reason other than they want benefits from a system that is already screwed to shit. They are already in a safe fucking country.

As for my concern? Yeah, the people being forced into poverty in this country is my fucking concern. Irreversible damage is going to see that social divide widen by the generation.

The Tories? Yeah, the Tories can go fuck themselves. Just as can Labour and the Lib Dems.

My point is that - if you're talking about poverty and the funding gap and the irreversible damage - the immigrants are a more or less complete red herring distracting your and everyone else's attention from the real point. It is bullshit. In trying to move it to a central position in that conversation, you are bullshit. None of the blame for austerity and state spending being slashed lies with the immigrants. Not one iota of it.

Your fallacy lies in this - not once have I said blame lies with the migrants for austerity.

I have only said that the migrants living in the jungle are idiots. Which they are. They're in a safe country, yet they are endangering their family's health, endangering their own health, and it makes no sense, no sense at all. It is a stupid situation.

Also, people in this country are angry with migrants because they can't touch politicians. Does that make sense? NO of course it doesn't but people are angry and scared and can't touch the people really to blame.

Humanity, as a whole, is stupid and terrifying. When people turn, that tide is almost impossible to hold back. My concern here, and has been throughout the whole thread, is that the elements of this situation, if not checked, will add up to a perfect storm. And people will turn.

There's already underlying anger here and in the rest of Europe. There's nothing that can be done about that. The financial situation is not going to change any time soon. Add to that an influx of people who are as culturally disparate as can be and... God, the whole thing is a mess. A huge, terrifying mess.
