Maybe it's time for me to rewatch the show because I don't remember the scene you describe! Getting old...

Also, the scene in the secret is all in Sherlock's head, so if it's shippy then maybe Sherlock ships it.

That muddles things further, then. (Though if Sherlock ships them, maybe they are well suited for one another. He should be able to 'see' enough to predict their 'type'.)
