Oh yeah if something can be locked I don't think using it that way is bad, honestly sometimes when I just need to rant and talking out loud isn't doing the trick I type up a private post just to get it out of my mind and most of the time it helps, but I just worry sometimes when I see blog littered with all sorts of personal information but I know at least some of my misgivings are because of how I was taught to be on the Internet.

Definitely, it's understandable but kids do need to be taught about it for their own safety(either immediate or down the line, you'd never want some dumb post you made when you were 14 coming back to haunt you in your 30's).

The most I've given out is my first name and what country I live in, everything else I keep to myself and a lot that is definitely because I'm quite a private person.

Yeah, it's a horrible thing to consider but it does happen sadly.
