Re: Let's talk about MASS EFFECT!!!!!

Mass Effect was actually a bit of a step back for Bioware. Jade Empire had possible same-sex LIs for both a male and a female protag, and KoTOR had a lesbian companion (and word of god says they were writing a male same-sex LI, but LucasArts put the kibosh on that).

Then comes Mass Effect, and the dead stupid "there won't be a same sex love interest for m!Shep because Shepard wouldn't be gay. (Apparently a fem!Shep who romanced Liara doesn't count because...idk alien space lady or something.) They backed off on that after a lot of backlash, but the relative scarcity of same-sex LIs until the end of the trilogy was very much a product of the Mass Effect team in particular.

Not that Bioware as a whole hasn't improved dramatically on that front since, but.

Holy shit WHAT. I'M SO MAD, WHY DID THEY GET SO BACKWARDS FOR MASS EFFECT?!?!

It's because Liara isn't ACTUALLY woman, silly. It makes complete sense! /sarcasm

And on that note.... I want to have some A Talkin' To with Bioware regarding aliens and boobs. It bothered me so much that pretty much ALL of the bipedal female aliens had boobs. I can understand wide hips because maybe they need to lay eggs or something, but not boobs.

GOD EVEN THE ONLY LADY TURIAN THAT SHOWED UP IN THE ENTIRE TRILOGY HAD BOOBS I AM SO IRRATIONALLY MAD

Bioware in general seems friggin' weird about boobs. Every woman in the Dragon Age series has these massive breasts, and nearly all of the clothing and armour choices cling around them in such an unnatural way it really gets on my nerves. At least ME armour had the excuse of being skin tight for ... sci-fi space reasons. Or something.
