I usually assume they have their reasons, but...

...if the picture in the secret is a direct reference to a not well-known piece of media and they are complaining about the lack of fans, but don't give the name or any reasons why they think others should watch it, then that's a little irritating. Because they could maybe entice some people into watching/reading/listening to it.

...if they are complaining about how they haven't found much fic/art/discussion of their character/pairing, but don't mention the character/pairing, then I think they've missed an opportunity, because FS had a lot of people in a lot of different fandoms and it's possible the secret poster could be pointed toward some fic/art/discussion they weren't aware of.
