So who are they exactly? I have no interest in Clone Wars so I wasn't too excited about this newer show. Is it any good? I only really care about the movie canon, but is it relevant?

Said character in the image is Leia who I guess shows up in season 2? The other character is Ezra, one of the main characters of the show. He's a force sensitive child being trained by Kanan, a former Jedi.

Personally I love it, it might even be my favorite piece of Star Wars media. It's very well written, has wonderfully fleshed out characters and I even like the art, though I am usually not that fond of 3D-animation.

I am not really sure what you mean with relevant though? Obviously the movies are not gonna build on Rebel's canon or put in many connections, but the show itself is connected to the movies fairly well I think. Multiple characters from the movies and from Clone Wars show up. Plus I think it does a good job in world building, by showing the Empire in work and the building up of the Resistance prior to Episode IV.

It does really well as a show about found families in space, with some smuggling heist and some freedom fighting thrown in. Plus I think it captures the Star Wars feel really well. Idk, if that sounds like something you'd enjoy and you don't hate TV aimed at kids, you should give it a try?

Is this about the Rebellion, not the Resistance which came after the fall of the Empire?

I strongly disliked Avatar the last Airbender, is it like that?

I guess I would mostly be interested if it added anything significant to the Star Wars lore. Wow, I didn't realize I was such a purist for the movies, but I guess I am lol.

Yeah, meant the Rebellion; I got that mixed up, sorry.

As for significant addition, well I feel like it does, because it gives lots of backstory and fills the gap between episode III and IV. Also it give some additional insight to the Jedi, via Kanan and Ezra's master and padawan relationship.

With Avatar, it's hard to tell without knowing what exactly you disliked about it, but I think they are not too similar. The rebels crew are mainly adults for one thing, and while the show is still aimed at kids it makes the characters somewhat more mature, I think. Also I feel like the story takes off earlier compared to Avatar, which"s first season at least has a lot of filler, but ymmv.

Rebels does get a little better over the course of the first season, I think, but the tone is fairly consistent, so I'd say check out the pilot and if you like that give it a shot.

I kind of got biased against it because the same shippers who are 110% for them and making huge posts about how Kylo Ren is secretly Ezra's son with Leia and joking about how Bail totally set them up knowing what teens would get up to alone wink wink.....

Are the same people who were a few weeks before that anyone who ships Ezra with anyone is a sick pedophile and should be run out of the fandom because he's a little boy and anyone who thinks of him and sex is a monster.

So yeah. Nothing against the pairing, I just kind of want to kick about half the shippers in the taint.

Well Adam Driver looks a lot more like Ezra than Harrison Ford so...yeah, I'm one of those people. Sue me.

Rebels is wonderful. I started watching because the creators referenced The A-Team, so I had to. I'm really enjoying it and I hope that everyone doesn't end up dead by the time of New Hope.

My "theory" (Mulder finger quotes) is that Kanan is the Max von Sydow character in TFA.

The Ezra is dad is a great idea in theory but the timing would be absolutely stupid. Because where's he been all this time?

I would be fine with the theory if they weren't screaming at every other Ezra/anyone shipper that they're pedophiles and then posting their pregnant teenage Leia fantasies.

Because I'm sorry, but if Ezra/Zare is pedophilia because Ezra's a underage child, then Ezra/Leia is not suddenly NOT pedophilia just because it's heterosexual.
