Thanks to Harry Potter, I thought "snogging" was a... lot more innocent than it actually is.

Also, I used to think "twat" meant the same thing as "twit."

Nope. In really strict terms, it just means kissing. Maybe they personally use it to refer to making out, but if so that's a recent usage.
