I know I've written about this here before, and I still can't remember exactly how the idea formed, but when I was little I thought pedestrians were an alien species that liked to jump out in front of moving vehicles. I thought that for years, and I devoted a great deal of car rides to watching for those fuckers. It never once occurred to me to ask anyone about it.
