My question is, why do you care if fans are minimizing the misdeeds of fictional villains? If they're not forcing their views on you what does it even matter?

I don't know, man, it's not a mortal sin or anything. It's an opinion that I disagree with in the context of dumb arguments about fictional characters which I find absorbing and fun. Isn't that why we're all here?

Oftentimes they ARE trying to force their views on you, or at least accusing you of not seeing the "nuance" if you absolutely do not agree with the minimalist look at their crimes, or feel that their victims are somehow more responsible for those crimes.
