There are way too many mystery girls named Alice.

What names have you seen too often?

It is a super common name so I could see why they use it.

Terra for female characters in sci-fi
Kira, Olive, and Penelope for "quirky" girls/young women. Kira's overused for fantasy heroines also
Jane for anyone under 60
Finn for anyone period
Jude for emo teenage boys
Swan and Sparrow as last names

The really common names: John, Jack, Alice, and other "classic" names. I don't personally mind them, but they are overrused.

Besides that? Damon, or any similar name starting with D. Usually in slash fiction.

At least 3 separate media I consumed last year had girls named Sadie. I've never known a Sadie or even heard of one outside of obscure notes in history books, and it's not a currently popular baby name, so why is it suddenly all over fiction?

I feel compelled to comment here, obviously. ;)

Idk why that is, and I will say that Sadie isn't technically my name, but rather a diminutive form of my name that I'm attempting to go by.

Last I looked, it was ranked in the top 100 baby names for girls in the past year (#76 IIRC, and if behindthename.com is to be trusted.)

Also, I saw a featurette for 11.22.63, the new mini series that's coming to Hulu next month, and the love interest's name is Sadie, so I don't know that this trend is stopping any time soon.

almost every MST-level bad movie made in the 50s has a Betty in it.
