Thoughts inform actions, and it's easily interpretable that some of Snape's actions were informed by his having Nice Guy syndrome, considering we see very little of his and Lily's interactions, but what little we do see isn't promising, and the fallout is epic. He literally had a large hand in her death because he didn't listen to even her parting admonitions - that doesn't read like someone who held himself responsible for their breakup at the time - and he borderline abuses the child she had with another man, although obviously there are extenuating circumstances.

Well all that and his whole conversation with Lily where he was all "James Potter likes you, I won't let you like him, I want you to see he's not as great as everyone thinks he is" and then when he stops listening to a single thing she says after she agrees with him about James even though what else she's saying is sort of important. I mean i know people keep saying there's nothing that proves it and i guess it's a subjective interpretation and all, but that whole relationship totally came off as Nice Guyish to me and I've never been able to shake that impression.
