Ugh, I fucking loathe Skoulson with every fiber of my being. It's wildly out of character and they choose to bash Coulson and Skye's other love interests to prop up their own gross as fuck ship (Chloe and Clark have spoken out against it too but they conveniently ignore that!)

Before they pretty much ruined it (along with everything else on this show), Coulson was the closest thing to a father Skye had. Not everything has to be sexual! Family is important too. I loved their father/daughter relationship because and it's one of my favorite things about the show (along with May and Skye's relationship, also non-existent this season).

LOL, sorry for that rant. Big NoTP of mine.

They put them together for real?! Fuck no!

Agents of SHIT ruined Coulson for me. And I hated Skye/Daisy/Mary Sue#3 from day one.

I say Mary Sue #3 because every character in the main cast was Mary Suing the show away from Coulson, who just enabled them.

Oh no, they're not together on the show! That would be horrific.

Skye's one of my favorites and she never has nor will she ever be a Mary Sue, though.

But they've ruined everything I love about the show and Coulson's turned into a self-righteous hypocrite (something that makes me sad since I loved him).

She's not a Mary Sue. But the show has more and more come to revolve just around her. She was the main character in season 1, but it was more of an ensemble show where everyone got good storylines. Now it is mostly about her with the occasional bit for others. I didn't hate her, but she wasn't my favorite so I gave up on the show because I didn't want a show alla bout her.

I don't have a problem with more Skye, because again, one of my favorites, but the problem is that they had too many fucking characters and didn't know how to handle them all so everyone got fucked over as a result.

I actually think they're better at it this season. Season 2, especially after the midseason, was the worst in terms of nonstop focus on Skye (who IMO is very much a Mary Sue). This year, while certain characters still should be getting more development and screentime, they've at least toned down on Skye/Daisy. *knock on wood*

Yeah, this season has had a lot of Bobbi, actually. It does not feel like The Daisy Show.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe Skye isn't a Mary Sue now. I don't know, as I gave up watching. But in the early seasons? She was very much a Mary Sue. And was very annoying, with way too much focus on her and her being so sooper-speshul.

Skoulson is awkward, but it's nowhere near as bad as Skyeward. Or any other ship involving Ward.

I hate this ship. I just don't do ships that seem parental. This ship is a lot like Giles/Buffy for me. In both cases the older character sees the other character as their daughter and mentors them and treats them like their child. I just can't see that turning romantic without bieng squicked out.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-30 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
MTE. I hate how some fics just straight up have Daisy calling him "dad".

(Anonymous) 2016-01-30 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I would honestly take Skoulson over Skyeward any day of the week. No matter how gross it is, because I do see them as more father/daughter, it's still better than goddamn Skyeward and anything to do with that piece of shit Hydra agent.

Anything is better than shipping Daisy with a murderous reanimated/possessed corpse.

I guess parental ships just squick me more. I don't like either, but Sky/Ward doesn't actively squick me the way Sky/Coulson does. I just hate it.

I didn't ship it and I stopped watching, but as much as this doesn't work for me as a pairing, I don't hate it and there are things I would be more upset about seeing explored. (Skye/Ward.)

But the only person I've ever shipped Coulson with was May, and Skye a bit with Simmons.

Fury/Coulson is my only Coulson ship, and yes to Skye/Simmons.

Ooo, nevermind, I take that back, I like Fury/Coulson too, I just never see it so I forget about it.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
What about Cap/Coulson? That's fun.

[personal profile] elaminator 2016-01-31 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel the same, actually! I think Coulson's crush is kind of adorable and I like to see it explored, but again, I haven't run across much of it so it tends to slip my mind.

I do think of it as more of a one-sided affection, but I would be open to reading more. (Tbh I'd prefer smut set while Bucky isn't in the picture because those two are kind of endgame for me, but I'd read other fic if I found it.)

Yes to Coulson/May. I don't actively ship anything in the fandom, but I casually ship that and Fitz/Simmons.

I wish "shipping" something platonically was a bigger fanfiction trend, so I feel your pain OP.

I can't stand it. He's a father figure to Daisy and it just weirds me out. I can't read it.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure Daisy/Coulson shippers would find my favorite Daisy ships weird.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
How does ignoring the shippy bits work for you? Do the nonshippy interactions still feel genuine (ie: you ca still read them as familial) and the story still feel complete?

Recs?
