I understand how you feel anon. That whole thing was so bitter and salty and it disgusted me too.
All that "YOU'RE TURNING YOUR BACK ON US!" bullshit makes fandom look like a cult

"YOU'RE TURNING YOUR BACK ON US!" Sounds like something the MCs mentor would yell at MC as they turn their back to join in the dark side.

I know, right? I get being disappointed if your favorite fanfic writer decides to pull all their fics, but throwing tantrums over it and being all, "YOU'RE DEAD TO ME" and calling the writer entitled for deleting their own work? WTF, fandom...

Yeah, I was really surprised by that sort of reaction, too.

I also liked the assumption that people pulled fics simply because they were ashamed of their fanfic past, as though there couldn't possibly be any other logical reasons they decided to pull their work offline.

And even if they did do it for that particular reason? It's still their work and they're still entitled to take it down if they want to. It's really not anyone else's business or concern why an author decides to remove their fics.

I felt like I totally missed this drama.
What secret was it and what happened?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure people mean this one:

Except the reaction to the secret of 2 weeks ago wasn't anything like that at all.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Not all of it was that entitled, but there was a strong streak of people reacting that way.
