People who interject profanity into every comment sound persistently angry. I wonder if they're really wound that tight or need anger management classes.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-30 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Exact opposite for me. I swear because it releases that anger. By saying 'fuck' or whathaveyou, I usually let go whatever it is that I'm swearing about.

I'm calm as fuck I promise you. I just have a potty mouth, always have.

I'm not angry! I swear! Both my parents have a potty mouth and it has rubbed on me.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-30 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like I sound too uptight when I make the conscious effort not to curse but I agree that cursing too much sounds angry or (tbh) kind of trashy.

To me it matters a lot what their tone of voice is. If they're joking around or have a cheerful sound to their voice, they don't sound angry to me no matter how much they swear. But swearing makes angry voices sound WAY angrier as far as I'm concerned, because they make an already angry person sound more violent and less in control of themselves.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-30 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
And in print, where there are no facial cues or vocal intonation, the default is just a curse word. And curse words 'sound' angry.

Well...I might curse more than I should, but I don't do it every sentence and/or comment. I just like curse words, but when it gets to the point where people are using them every other word, even I step back and go, “This is a bit much."

It depends on the person, too. You can use those words and sound reasonably chill; just because a person curses doesn't mean they're always on the brink of flipping out.

potty mouth != angry

you're welcome

(Anonymous) 2016-01-30 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you're mistaking vocabulary for tone, tbh.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2016-01-30 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel the opposite. If you're not comfortable enough to swear, you are either in extremely delicate company or you have a bug up your ass.

I don't swear, not because it makes me uncomfortable but it sounds lazy to me. People who swear all the time strike me as poor speakers.

Jesus tits, you sound sheltered.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I need to read the comments to know what they will read like. This was basically just you challenge FS to call to give you all the swears.

Well right now I'm in a fucking furious mood so you're not wrong here.

What I have learned...

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
from this thread and a lifetime of just not being a person who swears out of habit, is that the absence of injecting swears into your daily speech is a personal attack on people who do and they will make passive-aggressive snipes at you for it even if you've never shown a problem with them swearing. Better you just get over it and learn how to swear yourself while it's not too late, nonny.

Re: What I have learned...

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Why do I get the feeling you're less "just not a person who swears out of habit" and more "a self-righteous douchebag toward people who do?"

Re: What I have learned...

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Go fuck yourself, you self-righteous cunt.

Re: What I have learned...

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Only if it's response to a passive-aggressive post implying that people who use swear words MUST be in need of anger management. If you're foolish enough to do that, then you ought to be prepared for some pushback.

Re: What I have learned...

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't bother me that you and OP think you're better than me. It won't stop me from "injecting swears into daily speech."

Oh, and for the record, if you throw the first punch, don't be so shocked if one comes back to you. Especially if that first punch is a donkeypunch dripping with masturbatory self-righteousness. If you weren't paying attention, OP threw the first punch. But I'm sure they're getting what they hoped for, just as you are: much craved victimhood.

SHIT PISS FUCK CUNT COCKSUCKER MOTHERFUCKER TITS

When I speak out loud, my speech is peppered with profanity, to the point where I don't even realize I do it. I'm not even that angry of a person either.

Besides, what's wrong with a good fuck?
