Honestly, I see that as being pretty entitled, too. Peoples' interest change. They're ALLOWED to change. You don't have to agree or like it, but getting all pissy and entitled because a person who used to write fanfic is now focused on a publishing career is ridiculous. Unfriend, unfollow and move on. Whining because your fave has left fandom is hilariously childish.

I actually agree with what you've said. But that wasn't what I said. I said "remained in fandom circles, but stopped talking fandom altogether and just flogged their new book."

If you're in your own journal, knock yourself out and talk about your own life to your heart's content, including your new interests, and what you're working on, and links to your book, whatever. If you're using a fandom space for all of the above, it seems a little inappropriate to me.

But yeah, unfriend and unfollow is good advice in general, on both sides of the fence. It must be really hard to do, though, because a lot of people don't seem to manage it properly! XD

Depends on how you define a fandom space. It'd be a dick move to spam the tumblr tag for your fandom with non-fandom posts about your book, but back in the day, your personal LJ was also your fandom space and your friends list might be heavily fandom friends. I see nothing wrong with posting about your book to your personal journal, even if you previously used it as a fandom discussion forum.

Yes, that's fair. I admit I wasn't taking into account the difference between Tumblr and LJ spaces.
