How is Killjoys in terms of quality, though? I like the idea of Dutch, but the trailers made it look like shit so I didn't bother.

I think it's one of the better Syfy shows I've seen in a while. Production-wise the effects and sets are great and plot-wise they're good and the episodes are mostly self-contained while adding to the overall arcing storyline that is working through the season. Character-wise there's the main three (Dutch and brothers D'Avin and Johnny) but also a great supporting cast with many more women and a lot of POCs and all are really well rounded characters, not at all caricatures.

I was mildly engaged by the first 2 or 3 eps, and thought it took a huge leap in storytelling around EP 4 or so. Ended up loving the first season & looking forward to more.

the trailers aren't the show. They marketed it completely different than what the show is actually about. I wanted Bounty Hunters in Space. Not really the show.

I don't know how you feel about forced love stories either. The first episode pretty much played out how the season was going to go love interest wise. By the time the first season was over, it was pretty clear Dutch wasn't in control of everything and yes, needed saving.

the best episode was a mad max: fury road style episode about saving a pregnant girl and her "sisters" who ended up being capable in themselves. that's the type of show I wanted to see.

Give it a few episodes and see... production wise it's great, story wise, personally, I'm leery of where they are going. I'll probably give it another few episodes before deciding when it comes back.
