I hated 13 Little Blue Envelopes because it made me so damn jealous and unable to worry for the MC about any of her "problems." You're getting paid to travel all over Europe, what more do you fucking need? I also found the Italy chapter in particular so full of cringeworthy stereotypes.

I read the sequel to make my friend happy, and luckily I found it easier to enjoy.

As for Maureen Johnson, I do really recommend her Shades of London series. It's really fun and the main character is well-defined. All the other characters are great, too. My only complaint is that the first book is by far the best of the three out so far, so the other two are a slight downhill. Still good, though.
