I'm the exact opposite. I can't stand Heinlein, his writing, or his philosophy.

Loved the movie for exactly that reason.

I mean, I don't agree with his philosophy for the most part. These were books read to me as a kid. I haven't read them since. And he seemed like a pretty awful person.

But regardless the movie feels very disrespectful in a way that bothers me. It is one thing to change things a lot or to change themes. Whether or not that bothers me usually depends on how I feel about the original (hate the Oz movie, love the tv adaption of Goodkinds' books).

But this movie was deliberately thumbing its nose at the author in a really rude way, and that just feels inappropriate to me regardless of how I feel about the original.
