... because it's a fashion doll and it's not supposed to be real? It's basically just supposed to be a vehicle for the millions of outfits.

DA I don't know if "it isn't real" is a great argument against making something more realistic. A doll can have all the things anon above mentioned and still have 5 million outfits.

Even Barbie is based on reality to a certain extent, it's not like she's supposed to be some alien.

It's fine to enjoy the fantasy of Barbie but some people may like a different type of doll. Everyone is different, this is true for kids as well.

Well, we did get those Mer-people. Kala can be considered with mutiple "legs".
