You won't like it, but...a lot of it is giving yourself time. You do not get better overnight.

A lot of it is recognizing and identifying situations that cause or amplify certain behaviors and try to change them. Avoid them even, if that's what it takes for your mental health (not indefinitely, but until you're strong enough to deal with it).

Self-sabotage is tricky...but it often has to do with a) not thinking you're good enough so not even trying (ex. I'm not a good enough writer, so I won't enter the poetry competition) or b) being scared to get what you want on some level (I really want that job, but i'm scared it will be too stressful to handle) etc.

Trying to find out for yourself WHY you are sabotaging is half of the battle ) when you do, try to work on what's causing you to do so.

Good luck! I have the tendency as well...so i know how damaging it can be.
