Star Wars

There is suddenly a moderate... backlash backlash? saying that the prequels aren't as bad as people said, specifically that Anakin and Hayden Christensen aren't as people said, no really you guys don't understand his complex character.

And its fucking bullshit and just makes the fandom seem reaching and fake.

The prequels aren't as terrible as they've been made out to be by the butthurt side of fandom, but they're not that good either.

They weren't terrible movies, but they weren't good, either (especially the first one). Anyone who is extreme one way or the other is trying too hard, imo.

Saying that they "aren't as bad as people said" is damning them with faint praise.

I'd file that argument under With-Friends-Like-This,-Who-Needs-Enemies?

Uh, they weren't that bad. And I can see where people are coming from with Anakin. there were some subtlties there, but I think it was more by accident than by any great design.

Plus, The CLone Wars as helped with Anakin's characterization. A lot.

Well, the prequels weren't the pus-oozing hemorrhoids of Satan, but they weren't good movies, either.

LOL! I wish they had included that endorsement on the movie posters.

How many of us don't give a shit about the prequels anymore?

suddenly?

i'm insulted on behalf of our own prequel-anon, who's been saying that for years (and making a very good case even if i disagree with them)

The prequels had some good ideas, but were horribly executed. If they made Christopher Lee look like a bad actor, what chance did those with less experience have?

But as said above, the Clone Wars cartoon did a lot to fix things, especially Anakin's character.
