You know, there's been some REALLY interesting math done on gendered microaggressions in gender-imbalanced spaces. It explains why, for example, if you're the only woman on the programming team, you end up on the receiving end of a lot of hurtful little remarks, EVEN IF MOST OF YOUR MALE COWORKERS ARE TOTALLY COOL.

Which means that, as a man posting in this, a primarily-female space, I do see a lot of casual little remarks or assumptions that, yes, do sting a bit. But I take those in stride as best I can, because I really enjoy this community. It isn't as impossible for conversation as fuckin' Tumblr, and lacks the troglodyte element that too often becomes the loudest voice in male fandom spaces. Also we do tons of dirty jokes, which I always enjoy.
