Okay, I realize my original comment was unclear. My objection was less to eating out of the container and more to eating plain rice with literally nothing added to it.

Well I usually prefer fried rice when I get take out anyway so... :p

Yeah, straight fried rice, I get. But straight white rice? Maybe that's how they do it in China, but it's not how I've experienced Americans typically eating white rice. Even if we had it as a side growing up, we usually tossed some butter up in that.

I actually do eat plain rice, if it's a basmati or jasmine, and I was raised in the whitest of white Canadian communities.

Butter?! Whoa, that seems weird to me, lol. I used to load mine up with unhealthy levels of soya sauce myself, before I learned to appreciate things other than white rice.

I know, I know, it's just personal preference, or maybe a regional thing, but that seems as weird to me as ketchup on your eggs. And I know a million - perhaps a billion! :) - people like that, too. I just think it's funny how one person's gravy is another person's WTF-is-that?!

We eat straight white rice but with a main dish or side dishes. Not a bowl of rice and nothing else.

The rice is a staple carb but the other dishes change, like a sandwich will always have bread, but the filling can change.
