Oh come on. This thread is all in fun. I highly doubt that we're all writing with these characters now in all seriousness.

But sometimes it's fun to just cut loose and be a little ridiculous.

Clarifying: my reason for writing is to try to get into someone's head who I'd never ever want to be in real life, but who I find interesting.

Say... someone who is a huge gun nut/survivalist and thinks the world is going to end because Obama will set all the nukes off at the end of his presidency. Still pretty ridiculous, but not at all a self-insert.

I guess from that point of view a self insert would be pretty boring then.
