(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 02:02 am (UTC)(link)Second, fanfic writers are very different from pro writers in the level of contact they have with their readers. Fanfic writers are part of the same community and probably know a lot of their readers on some level.
Tacky to reply to comments? No, that's bullshit, it's not tacky. it's tacky to throw a tantrum if you get a negative review, sure, but it's never tacky to say "Glad you liked it, thanks so much for commenting." I think that's good manners. Not required, but it's nice and it makes me think more highly of the author if they make an effort.
