And I think that the people in this thread who are whining about getting a kudos instead of a comment are the ones who are the grannies whining about a phone call instead of a thank-you note. It can go both ways.

That's an interesting perspective, but I have to disagree. Maybe a better comparison would be kudos are like getting a Valentine's card with a ten dollar bill in it and a comment is like getting a nicely wrapped present that someone put thought into picking out. The present might not be quite right (ie- exactly what the author wants to hear), but at least it's personal and shows effort.

Nobody in this thread is whining about kudos instead of comments. Everybody is talking about commenting etiquette regardless of kudos. Learn to read.

Did you read this whole thread? There are at least three anons complaining about kudos being not good enough for them.
