(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 02:29 am (UTC)(link)I'm not sure that I'd trust the Tumblr grapevine to not have dramatized whatever it is.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 04:56 am (UTC)(link)Like, even if you set aside the specific proposal for legalizing rape, what's the point of the piece? Presumably, as a criticism of the idea of 'rape culture' as a concept. But, like... his specific objection to the concept seems to be that it's women's responsibility not to get raped, and that rape is easily prevented in the majority of cases. Which is more or less the same point that he was driving at when he proposed making rape legal. So... even if you take him as being satirical about the thing about making it legal, he still holds all the beliefs that lead up to that argument? Which are just as objectionable?
And it's just so confusing to me because, like, this is literally what the piece textually says! Explicitly! Saying that it's fine because it's satirical is just a mind-boggling amount of evil, lunatic nonsense to me. It is just so blatantly untrue.
Re: Is this for Real
It's not explicitly a "make rape legal" event, though RoK has advocated for that in the past.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 03:38 am (UTC)(link)I'm tired of fighting against this stuff. Tired of fighting for things that shouldn't even have to be fought for, like the right to be considered more than something to fuck. I'm just tired.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 07:56 am (UTC)(link)PUAs are not MRAs. MRAs are not PUAs
(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 08:25 am (UTC)(link)And in general PUAs consider MRAs to be stupid overly emotional cucks who waste time trying to be seen as good or valuable men by women, when how women see you doesn't matter because women are just holes to fuck.
Also, there's not really a point to the meetups, they're not plotting the downfall of women. it's a "Let's meet other people who think like me" thing.
I'm not saying that I would consider it a huge tragedy if there were some well placed explosives littered around key points in the world today, but I think tumblr might be going a little tin-hat with the "They're meeting to destroy women schtick" and a little click baity with the MRAs. The only mens rights PUA's care about are their rights to smash pussy.

Re: PUAs are not MRAs. MRAs are not PUAs
(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)Their general philosophy seems to be something along the lines of "The measure of a man is in how many women he can get to sleep with him. All that matters in the true mans life is getting laid, and the true man should allow nothing to stop him from getting at that vagina." That's the most charitable interpretation I have of them. More often than not, the impression I and many others get from them is that their philosophy is "Human sexuality is sport and women are stupid and worthless and don't deserve to win, so we'll fuck them all to put them in their place". I admit I may be being harsher on the group that they deserve, and I concede it's possible that they're better people than I'm giving them credit for, but my limited experience makes me think I'd rather not put the work in to find out.
As you can see their "Real men do X" idea puts them kinda at odds with MRA's more often than not and makes MRA's feel justified shitting on them. Where as the PUA's think MRA's crying about their rights and bloo-a-bloo etc instead of crushing pussy etc makes them not real men and worthy of derision. The word Beta get's thrown around.

Think ...guy at a club wearing a gold chain and a purple fedora trying to talk to as many girls as possible vs. guy sitting at home in front of a computer trying to rant about how men are marginalized because divorce laws are unequal (and also probably doesn't know how divorce laws work).
Guy 1 is the PUA. Guy 2 is the MRA.
