Re: whatcha reading?

indeed! If you want a good standalone book from him, my sister LOVES Icarus Hunt, and my fave is Angelmass although some people don't like that one because "MY GOD HE'S STIL TALKING ABOUT BLACK HOLES??" (that's what Zahn had been doing his PhD on before his thesis adviser died and he was like 'fuckit imma do the writing thing full time'). Green and the Grey, Manta's Gift, A Coming of Age, and the Quadrail series aren't my faves of him although they're still Zahn and thus still good; Deadman Switch and Warhorse and Spinneret are some early Zahn with some really neato/clever subjects, Soulminder is a recent offering that's a nice change of pace as a straight-up 'concept' book (invent a technology, what are the results of that tech? without a real 'villain' or lots of high drama and plot), Cobra and Blackcollar series resemble each other but are both good, Conqueror's Trilogy is super awesome in that it has a fascinating alien race and worldbuilding and a great Zahn OHHHHH OKAY 'twist', and if you can get your hands on a short story collection he does well in that format too!

...sorry you set off this Zahn fangirl, lol.

Basically, just read all of Zahn. Got it.

Honestly, none of his books have ever disappointed me and to hear everyone else recommend that I keep going is encouraging.
