Yes, it does take an hour when you're a semi-popular or popular writer who receives a shit load of reviews. It takes me at least that long to reply to all my reviews for one fic/chapter sometimes, sometimes longer. I enjoy doing it so I don't mind, but authors shouldn't have to feel obligated to respond to each and every review, especially since most comments consist of standard praise such as "this was great! thank you!" or "nice fic." To expect authors to do thank readers for thanking them is the worst type of entitlement.
