Oh god I know your pain. SUCH GOOD DEALS!

(Anonymous) 2016-02-04 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I have SO MANY GAMES.
SO MANY.

And I've played so few of them, like, even for five minutes!
(I've put hundreds of hours into Skyrim though! Ditto Inquisition.)

I feel you, OP. Every time I get one of those little "An item on your wishlist is on sale!" emails, I'm like "LET ME LIVE"

You get emails for that? Do I have to check something in the settings? I have things on my wishlist but I've never gotten any emails (and I've had them on my wishlist for a while, I can't imagine there never having been any one of them on sale. :/)

In your account (click on your name in the top right corner of the steam client and choose "Account Details", or visit https://store.steampowered.com/account/) click "manage email" and there is an option for "send me an email when: an item on my wishlist goes on sale."

You can also link your account to isthereanydeal.com. They record deals everyday, remember to set it as not too frequent or your inbox will explode since they include any legit game store.

Yeah, I get them all the time. 2-3 times a month, probably.

If you go into Home > Account > Email Preferences, there are boxes you can check to get emails for promos and wishlist item sales.

It's probably a good thing I have a Mac and can't play 90% of the games on there. There are so many I would buy if it weren't for incompatibility, but my wallet is thankful.

Those sales are very good though. Especially stuff that is normally $30 going on sale for $7.

The pains of being a mac gamer. I sympathise. (and when they are for mac, it's the amount of dedicated video card memory required that gets me. *shakes fist at late 2009 iMac which doesn't need upgrading except for that.)

It's getting better in terms of choice though. Most newer games seem to be mac compatible.

I was like that when I first started using steam, but once I noticed my library piling up with unplayed stuff, I basically made a rule for myself to not buy anything I wasn't going to play immediately.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-04 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Me too.
Sadly, I have a Mac. Which means 50% of the games I want, I can't get even if they're on sale for amazing deals.
;__;

Companies know this. "Sale" is usually a great way to make money.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-04 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I hate to be that guy, but how is this fandom? All it says is "I shop too much". It doesn't even mention a specific game.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-04 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
yeahh I agree, it's not much of a "secret". In fact, most people on steam buy lots of games and end up never playing them. It's kind of a norm.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-04 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. It shouldn't be a secret.

[personal profile] solticisekf 2016-02-04 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
gaming is fandom, imho.

Get out while you still can!

[personal profile] solticisekf 2016-02-04 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
what if it's too late, like 300 games too late?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-04 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ehhh, fuck Steam. I don't like some of their business practices, so I don't buy anything from them anymore.

Steam always puts shit I want up on sale right when I don't have the money for it. :|

(Anonymous) 2016-02-04 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
I get emails from Humble Bundle and Bundle Star, so not only do I buy a lot of games, I'll buy a cheap bundle for just a single game and then have a dozen I will never play! So I try to avoid the Steam Sales as I have so many unplayed games. I've been chipping away at them recently. I finished Limbo, which I started playing int 2012 >_>
