lol they never even said they were a big James fan. You don't have to be a James fan to realize how completely preposterous saying he abused Harry and Lily is.

The guy liked to physically hurt and sexually assault people when he was a teenager; I don't blame people for thinking he might be an abusive partner.

Sexual assault? That's a stretch. A big stretch. And we have no evidence that he had those traits as an adult. The only evidence we have of him as an adult is of him growing out of the bullying. And given we have no evidence to the contrary at all, there is no reason not to believe that.

Not really. A kid at my school thought it would be funny to de-pants someone once like was done to Snape, and that's what it was treated as.

Maybe. But we're talking the Potter world where playing around with magic of that sort seems to be the norm. I'll be the first to say that it isn't okay (I'll rant about things like Hermione's bird attack on Ron or Ginny flying into the stands at Smith). But calling it sexual assault seems to be taking it to far given the context and the Potter world.

now, that's just nitpicking. He's Severus, that's his name. Thet didn't say Snapybear or Snapypoo.

Tbf, I think "Severus" hits the warning radar against Snapefen for a lot of reasons, probably not very fair ones - he's only ever referred to as Snape in the series except by Dumbledore and (sometimes) McGonagall, and I think people just default to calling the characters by what they're referred to in the books. I've never seen anyone over invested enough to call Dumbledore "Albus" in metas, even though that's his name.

There is no numerical limit. This is an argument that will go on till the end of time. When reality itself collapses there will still be an argument waging on FS over the respective characters of James and Snape. We will fall into the collapsing black hole with the phrases "Snape was a Nice Guy!" and "James Potter was a bully" spraying forth from our lips.

At the end of the world it will be this and cockroaches.
