I get that there's a terrible stereotype that respect and discipline is only a white family household thing but it's ridiculous to pretend the opposite is true. I also saw a post about how "sneaking out of the house" is purely a thing white kids got away with because I guess black parents are more vigilant?...lol, my brother got caught every time he tried.

TV taught me that every kid had an upstairs window they would sneak out of after dark. I know this happens but I once asked a bunch of college friends, and only one said she had done it -- and her parents were super strict. Mostly you could just wait until your parents were asleep and go out the door if you really had to?

But of course TV shows need kids to sneak out all the time because drama.

In my case my family often tended to live in one-story homes or apartment complexes, so sneaking out from an upstairs window either couldn't happen or just wasn't very feasible, respectively :p.

Even if I could've snuck out a bedroom window, though, I wasn't all that big on wandering around my town late at night and making my parents worry, so I wouldn't have done it.

I saw that post too. Don't forget, it's also a white thing because to sneak out of a house you have to live in a house in the suburbs with lots of space to hide, not a tiny apartment in the crowded ghetto! because we all know only white people live in the former and only POC live in the latter.

I thought the stereotype was that white people's children are horribly rude and spoiled, and respect and discipline are things that only black parents enforce (with a wooden spoon or a belt if necessary).
