No, Rowling's words were that's part of why he didn't like Snape, the other part still applies.

He was a dick to him when they first got on the train. So unless he's psychic...

(Anonymous) 2016-02-04 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
He was a dick because Snape was also a dick to him on the train.

James overheard Snape talking about Slytherin and insulted him.

No matter how you look at it James was the instigator most of the time. Stop victim-blaming.

lol victim blaming.

Snape got pissy because James made a rude comment about Slytherin to Sirius, and then broke into their convo with an equally rude snort and comment about Gryffindors wanting to be more brawny than brainy. They were equally shitty to each other, how about you stop acting like your precious flower can do no bad.

Equally shitty to each other? When did Snape go out of his way to humiliate James in front of his peers?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-05 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Not just James, but he was always following them around trying to get the Marauders into trouble, usually regarding Lupin's condition. This is confirmed by Sirius and Remus, Lily, and Pottermore, so no it's not just ~everyone had a bias against Snape!11!!~

And then they almost got him killed.

So yeah... not exactly equal.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-05 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
And also saved his life, if you're going there.

One of them almost got him killed, one of them (the one you're shitting on, in fact) saved him.

I was going to say how I was amazed that people always shit all over James when Sirius was the worse of them...

...then I remembered Lily ended up with James and everything makes sense.
