Idk I listened to it and got a completely different vibe than you. Usually you don't say someone is DEAD to you if you're sort of okay with them.

There's a difference between being 'not OK' with someone and hating them. He's not going to spend emotional energy on Marty unless he's actively present and doing something to deserve it, but he's also not going to put himself into a situation where he's going to be spending that energy because he knows it'll be negative.

But even if he were present, and being Marty, he'd be feeling annoyance and disappointment, not hate.
