I actually really like this design. It leans a little more toward realism than cartoonish exaggeration, and the defined muscles are admittedly unconventional for this particular character, but it's still recognizably Fred Flintstone and not just some generic caveman dude.

The new design for Shaggy on the other hand... fuck no.

There's just something WRONG about Fred Flintstone with huge, bulging muscles.

Actually, from a realistic standpoint, it makes sense. Fred works in a rock quarry - a physically demanding job, especially before modern technology. Not only that but he runs his car around - a car made primarily of rock, which I doubt is light. Plus, he demonstrated many instances in the cartoon where he either carried Dino--a dinosaur, likely heavy--or preformed some other act of strength that a normal sized/muscled man could do.

So technically, I find the new version of Fred totally feasible, design-wise.

Shit. He's kinda hot, yeah.

It's harmful to spread mindless stereotypes like this. There is no "look" that indicates spousal abuse. By trying to further that there is a "look", you are enabling others to get away without being abusers "because they don't look like it".

I think he looks more "bumbling sitcom dad" than "wife beater" but the other anon is right that there's not really a specific look that domestic abusers have. I've seen all different kinds of spouse and child beating douchebags

NO! Bad DC Comics. I grew up with 70s Hanna-Barbera and this is a tragedy. They are ruining Scooby Doo. Shaggy isn't a hipster DAMMIT. He is a stoner and Velma isn't Edna Mode from The Incredibles. And Wacky Racers was a fun silly show NOT a Mad Max clone. Screw DC Comics.
