I think those early seasons were enough to pretty much sour people on him entirely.

Because he's really, really, really annoying in those earlier seasons. He's a squeaky-voiced annoying little twerp, and the show KEEPS FOCUSING ON HIM and thinks we love him and keeps spending time on him and he won't go away. And the weird-ass Kes relationship doesn't help either.

Hmmm. I guess I only ever found him a little annoying in those early seasons. Mostly in relation to his relationship with Kes and his jealousy. The other stuff didn't really bug me.

Ditto. As soon as they dropped the whole Kes thing, which was majorly creepy, I really enjoyed the Neelix character.
