Personally I'd prefer the short story taking place over months. I know that there are couples who fall in love fast. But my preference is for relationships that take time to develop. I think it is more realistic and to me more interesting.

I'm curious, how quickly could a couple fall in love and you would still believe it?

It would really depend on the couple. I'd have to believe that they actually know each other and that it is real love and not just physical attraction or infatuation. In my mind, that more often takes time (unless they've known each other for years because then even though the feelings are more recent they do know each other and there was already a relationship there, though non-romantic).

Maybe I'm colored by my experience. Most of the couples I knew were friends for a long time before the started dating. So I just feel like strong bonds take time and that you can't really love someone if you don't know them.
