What outfits do you wish you could pull off?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Or at least have the confidence/lack of shame to wear in public.

Short things. I've gotten mostly comfortable with showing cleavage, but I'm still not comfortable showing legs. I feel my legs are really ugly.

I cannot bring up the confidence to show cleavage. My boobs are DDs so showing cleavage means showing the goddamn Grand Canyon. Any advice?

I wish I could wear short shorts. But I can't. For one, though I'm not overweight at all, I have pretty wide hips and thicker thighs, and I'm kind of short. I don't think they look good on me. But the biggest thing is, if my legs are bare, my thighs rub against one another when I walk and really chafe, and it hurts. This includes exercise shorts. When I run, fabric will even "ride up" my legs from the inside seam, so even mid-thigh exercise shorts will ride up to just under my underwear line, and my legs will chafe. Ugh.

What about a longer/Bermuda short?

Some 1800's or 1920's outfits. And I wish I could use a cloak sometimes instead of a coat.

Yeahhhh, that's great. Rocking an inverness coat would be bonkers.

I wish I could wear short things without getting cold. I think my metabolism was different when I was in high school (and a little heavier, although I was never overweight) because I wore short skirts all the time, and didn't have to carry a cardigan everywhere even when it's 100º outside because the air conditioning everywhere inside is so frigid.

My body's just fine, I have the confidence-- in fact, I particularly like my legs. I just value my comfort more.

This right here is the STORY OF MY LIFE, and also the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE. That is all.

crop tops
outfits that show your bra

they're cute, but i feel like anywhere i'd go it'd be inappropriate to wear.

i mean i've seen other girls wear crop tops to class in college and it just seems... idk unprofessional? which is dumb hang up i have i guess.

Re: What outfits do you wish you could pull off?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
nah, it is unprofessional. there are times and places for that sort of clothing and class is definitely not one of them.

There's this clothing girls wear that's kinda halfway between a shirt and a dress (like they still have to wear pants, but it kinda has a skirt?? I have no idea how to describe this) that, if there was a guy version, I've always wanted to try.

Are you perhaps describing a tunic, a long fairly loose top that's often belted at the waist and usually worn with pants/leggings/tights. In many cultures, it's a unisex style.

Are you thinking of a peplum? A peplum is a small flounce or flared extension of the bottom of the garment (blouse or jacket) around the hips.

An open back dress or a shirt.

Teeny tiny skirts- I am always afraid I'll show my underwear with anything shorter than like, two inches above my knees, and am super jealous of people who can pull it off.

Those shirts that don't quite show off all of your stomach, but do show just a tiny bit. I'm a relatively thin person but the weight I DO have settles in my stomach and I look pregnant. For this same reason, I can never get away with most dresses.

Anything with short(er) skirts and overknee socks, but I have fat, ugly legs :(

Minimalist, masculine styles (like button-up shirts tucked into slacks with oxfords). I think people should wear what they want but it bothers me how button-up shirts look on my large chest.

Oh yeah! Also, probably flapper style or old school 30's style menswear!

Oh, another thing came to mind! The most gothy, witchy shit ever (long black dresses with layers and layers of sheer fabric, big black hats).

Slinky, clingy outfits. Sadly, my hip/butt area is a little lumpy, so tight clothes wouldn't flatter my shape at all.

Anything that requires me to either not wear a bra or deal with the straps or sides showing.

But going braless is uncomfortable most of the time and my bras aren't delicate and pretty enough to show off, even the expensive lacy ones.

Loose, floaty dresses. It look like I'm wearing a sack instead of looking all delicate and ethereal. I also wish I could wear skirts and dresses without tights or leggings. My legs are Sasquatch-hairy (it takes forever and a half to shave them) and super pale in comparison to the rest of me, so I don't like showing them off.

Anything tough/badass! I look too much like an innocent preteen to pull it off.

I don't often wear anything short because I have really pale thighs and it's half other people looking at them, half worry about the sun burning me to a crisp. I also have a birthmark on my leg and I kind of hate it.

Low cut anything. Unless I want people to stare at me or old ladies to tell me to cover myself up. Even the same top that looks modest on my friend will look like hooker wear on me. It's not a bra issue either, I have cleavage in a t-shirt bra. Stupid boobs.

For the same reason, anything that hangs off the bust looks frumpy on me. Anything that doesn't go in at the waist makes me look like a shapeless blob. I'm okay with this actually. I am a comfy shapeless blob.

Anything midriff.

I once was able to walk around in short shorts. I'd love to be able to do that again if not for these gross cottage cheese thighs.

I rarely look good in dresses, because I have no waist. I'm tall and very slim, so no one ever believes me until I actually put on a dress and show them. My measurements are 35" - 28" - 36", and the bottom of my ribcage basically sits inside the top of my pelvis. Dresses just make me look like a box with slightly warped sides. :(

I especially can't wear anything that involves using a waist accent. I can (and basically have to) wear a belt to keep my pants up, but dresses or skirts that are belted at the waist look ridiculous on me. Which makes me sad because they are so damn chic on long-waisted women.
