Wondering myself. But it's based off Sword of Shannara, right? Because I remember hating that book. With the BDSM lady, all the women being in love with the protagonist, and the antagonist's evil "banning fire" plot which was a political reference to the evilness of banning guns, right?

I think you may be thinking of Wizard's First Rule, by a different author? I can't remember the series name or the author... it's the one Legend of the Keeper is based on I think.

Sword of Shannara was an extremely by-the-numbers LOTR ripoff (like, more than most epic fantasy, I don't just mean the world I mean the plot structure and all sorts of stuff). I assume the show is based on some of the other books in the series, which were more original than Sword of Shannara and less offensive than the Wizard's First Rule, but not great enough to have me racing out to catch the series.

DA. The show is based mostly off Elfstones of Shannara, although they threw in or merge a couple of elements from Sword as well (the Dagda Mor has at least part of Brona's backstory, for example).

Aww. Kind of sad it's not based off The Genesis of Shannara. Not that I expected it to, but I enjoyed that series...

Oh damn you're right, I was thinking of that one! I just remember the protagonist using a fancy sword that I thought was the "Sword of Shannara" but lmao oops. I swear I've read Sword of Shannara but it was probably when I was like twelve, I really can't remember it.

Sword of Truth. It's an understandable mistake, since the authors have really similar names, and the series are both pretty derivative fantasy.

The Shannara books are a lot less rapetastic and aren't Randian screeds, though - they're more forgettable than awful.

The show is such a LOTR rip-off that I couldn't watch past about 45 minutes in. It was dull as ROCKS.
