Some people who're really used to being framed as something awful adopt the most extreme form of it as an ironic badge of honor. On the left, I've most frequently seen this as "Satanist." I guess "fascist" is an obvious right-wing parallel. (Of course, that doesn't mean the shoe can't fit . . .)
