Re: Characters falling in love
(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 08:58 am (UTC)(link)It's not even that they can't feel strongly for each other, and maybe even fall in love with each other, very quickly. I just don't want them to understand their own feelings for quite a long while. Either they minimize their feelings in the beginning, or they overlook them, or repress them, or misconstrue them. And then somewhere down the line, when they know each other really well and are used to being involved in each other's lives, their feelings finally push to the surface and become undeniable.
If one were going to do a love-in-three-days type scenario, I would say adrenaline, fear, and bravery are key elements to making it work. Like maybe they both get embroiled in some kind of dangerous situation together, and have to work together to get through it. If at the end of three intense days, for example, one of them jumps into a river to save the other from drowning, drags him ashore, and does desperate CPR on his unconscious body until he revives, you could probably convince me they're in love. Anything that involves peril, bravery, desperation, and self-sacrifice covers a lot of emotional ground in a hurry.
